Track Six by The Gaslamp Killer
(found on Paul White's Similar Artist Radio)
(what should be a full track, but is persistently only a sample track streaming here)
this track switches up between gypsy caravan, 70s suave, turn tablism, and other random good things

it does the looping repetitive thing, but there are rewards for the patient. fairly intense.
unexpected ending.

I love love love love the percussion. I'm not so pleased with the buzzing tone that sounds periodically, nor the warbley vocals that waver in and out of the background. Are the drums worth it? Could someone edit that annoying bits out?

electronic with acoustic guitar, cute elements without being a cutesy song

I bookmarked this at work, and now I can only revisit it on this ridiculously short sample to try and describe it. The beat caught me. I have been checking out a lot by this artist recently and enjoying it quite a bit.

this would be a good song to listen to while laying out on a hillside, possibly sampling a few blades of grass to chew

one of those songs that is repetitive, but in its looping way it creates something wonderful. how it can also be both sad and chipper, is another strange phenomenon.
Update: purchased this cd on my trip to Bloomington. we tried to listen to it on the car ride back, but the speakers didn't play any of the midtones, which it turns out are essential for the cohesiveness of these songs.

the vocalists make me smile when they get warbley on the high notes.
they remind me of protest song singers. they rhythms are simple and
strong.

this track would be pretty unremarkable if it weren't for the eerie tone in the vocals

jazzy downtempo. addictive like Mr. Scruf'f's Get a Move On

once you get through the unpleasantly disjointed intro, you find youself in a really interesting bit of percussion, and then the bass kicks in to round it all out. Stick with this track through the uneasy patches and you will be rewarded.

the samples that they chopped up for this track remind me of The Andrews Sisters' Rum & Coca Cola and Harry Belafonte's Jump in the Line

woman with guitar. this track is really only interesting if you have heard the original This Mortal Coil version (goth ambient) of this song and liked it. susheela has changed the feel slightly, but otherwise stayed close to the original.
