Continuing to blunder through this project. Don't know precisely what I'm doing.
I finished covering both sides in a triple-layer of interfacing. Seems like it would be a good idea to interface and grosgrain ribbon the middle connector as well.
Sewed down the edge of the interfacing along the bottom and the top, I do not plan to make any changes there. I left the sides undone for now as I decide whether to change the shape there for added coverage using the grosgrain ribbon building method described by Craftgrrl in her Bra Instructions.
With each additional step, I feel less and less certain that this will all work out. No way to know without continuing, though.
Contemplating strap arrangement. I have no idea what I am doing here. I know that I want it to cross in the back and that it should be made of grosgrain ribbons sewn thick together.
More of my guesswork to follow. Eeep!

beautiful instrumental with some farty synths
This is the first installment of this project. This is only my second time making a coin bra, so I would not advise using my telling of my process as instructions. As I go along, I plan to make notes about what is working, what would be better done another way. I have read Annabelle's Coin Bra Instructions and used them on my last attempt, but I am trying a few changes this time.
After pinning all of the interfacing, I cut away the excess material from the area where I made the vertical slit. Now those edges just meet. I also trimmed around the outside of the interfacing so that only an inch remains overhanging.
I then unpinned the interfacing and used it as a pattern to cut out a total of 6 pieces (3 for each cup, since I wanted the final piece to be sturdy enough to hold many heavy metal coins). For ease of maneuvering in the following steps, I sewed each stack of three pieces together so that they would not slide apart.
I rolled up the side-strap and pinned it to itself to get it out of the way during the sewing process.
Here is the first interfaced cup. The stitching around and across the vertical slit is pretty hideous, but all of this will be covered up by the end of the project. By the end of this, my fingers were worn out. Must purchase a thimble before repeating the process on the other cup.
